604-816-7727 Mark: Hi, it’s Mark from Top Local Lead Generation. We’re here with Vancouver’s own DJ Boogie Shoes himself, Mr. Gary Waight. How are you doing Gary? Gary: We’re doing very good, a little sun out there today. Mark: Yeah, so we’re going to talk about genres of music for your wedding reception. How does that make a difference? Gary: Well genres of music can add a certain ambiance to your event and one of the things about wedding receptions or any kind of an event you want to put forth some kind of energy, some form of feeling for the event that is conducive to maybe your own beliefs or your own feelings but also maybe you want to put it out there so that it will convey the event a lot better. In weddings for example, the cocktail music, now a lot of brides and grooms may think that we’re a very romantic couple and we love that romantic classy stuff and beautiful sounding music and that’s really great, if that’s what you want to portray, that’s beautiful. One thing you might want to think about though too is during that time and as well as dinner is that, it’s been a long day for everybody, a lot of the guests and even including yourself has spent most of the day getting ready and going through the events of the day, you know, the wedding ceremony and then going and getting your pictures, guests have been up all day early too and walked around, did a lot of walking maybe through the grounds so a lot of them are getting lethargic and getting tired so one of the combinations that I like to recommend is, if you want class is a combination of smooth jazz, Dianna Krall, Michael Buble, some instrumental music and the Spanish guitar. The reason why I recommend those combinations is that the smooth jazz is classy so that’s the classy aspect of it and the Spanish guitars up-tempo, it has a nice beat to it, it has a nice rhythm to it, it kind of gives that ambience and gives off that energy that kind of makes people kind of move and kind of dance. I’ve often seen bridesmaids and ladies going up to the buffet table at dinner time to the Spanish guitar music shaking their shoulders and kind of dance a little bit and it just gives them that energy and that translates also to after dinner, after they’ve eaten and everybody’s full and they might want to get lethargic so you want to keep the energy up so the romantic songs, the classics, classical songs are great if that’s what you want to portray but keep in mind that they do bring the energy level down and they can bring down the overall energy, make people a little bit more tired than they normally might be, so that’s one aspect you might want think about. The cake cutting music, for the cake cutting, a lot of couple find gee I don’t know what kind of music I might like for the cake cutting. There again that’s a little bit less of a big deal in terms of energy. We can go with your own feelings on that ones, if you’re romantic couple definitely go with a romantic music that’s alright, if you’re a fun couple go with something fun like, “I like Break and Butter, I like Toast and Jam”, that’s a really fun song so a lot of couples have tried that and it worked well for them. Then we kind of move on in the evening to the first dances; one of the things that I recommend about the first dances you want to keep them to a minimum, if you have too many first dances, they tend to get, the guests kind of get tired of it, it’s just a little bit boring for them so you might want to keep them to a minimum.
