Hi, it’s Mark Bossert from Top Local Lead Generation. We’re here talking about getting a DJ for your event with DJ Boogie Shoes owner, Gary Waight. How are you this morning Gary?
Gary: I’m super good, how are you?
Mark: I’m good. I guess there’s a lot of additional services that you offer, so let’s get into that. But maybe we should start with what’s actually included with what you offer with your basic package.
Gary: Sure, that sounds great. All our packages come with everything you need for like a complete event. The differences in pricing and packaging is reflected in the equipment and the services rendered. For example, the regular service which is probably my most popular service, includes a money back guarantee, all the cocktail, dinner and dancing music, a complete PA system, six foot speaker stands, wireless microphones, lighting, all the goodies – screen and projector; if you book the seven hour service, all the access to all my music which includes a real wide range of stuff, request lists as well as songs you don’t want to hear, the pro DJ of course, and the DJ can have an interactive element; the DJ can make all minor announcements and you get a contract, which is really important to always want to get a contract with your DJ; you have a face to face consultation, tips on how to make your event really sparkle and shine; you get references and contact information for those references; and we also include an one hour set-up and take down that has no cost to you. So that’s a pretty full package right there and it includes everything that you may need.
Mark: So what sort of extra option for equipment do you have?
Gary: We’ve got lots of add ons, we have different PA configurations, we have wireless speaker systems – some of the heritage houses around here are oddly shaped and for like Cecil Green for example, the DJ’s in one room and the reception dinner is in another room and they’re separated by a hall. So this is a venue where you can use a wireless speaker set up so you can actually get your dinner music into the reception area where they’re having the dinner. We also have extra lighting, wireless professional microphones, lapel mic’s, headset mic’s, microphone stands and I think I mentioned the projection screens, but we have those in different sizes. If you’re doing karaoke, we have recording options so you can actually record the performance if you’re brave enough, and we have tons of extra speaker stands.
Last weekend’s event actually was a good case in point. I added scrims to the speaker stands which are actually speaker stand covers, like a spandex cover that goes over the speaker stand and it hides all the wires and stuff and they up lit that with some lasers – it looked really interesting and the bridegroom really liked it. It just added to the ambiance. So we have all that kind of stuff.
Mark: So what about the wedding ceremony, do you marry people?
Gary: No, I don’t marry people, but I definitely will do the music, we can provide the background music for their processional, when they sign the license and the recessional when they’re at the end of it, as well as for when the guests are being seated. We get lots of requests for that. We have a great organizational tool that will help plan the music for that. And we can even do the music on a spot where there’s no power by using battery powered PA systems and of course the battery powered computers. We also have special deals on the wedding ceremony so you can always contact me to see if your event qualifies for that.
Mark: So what other services do you offer?
Gary: We’ve got lots of services. We have music bingo, which is just like regular bingo it’s just basically where we play snippets of music, the music gets going and pretty soon everybody is feeling the music, they’re moving at their table, we get them up doing the instrumental to AC/DC. Lots of stuff, lots of fun. I also have karaoke of course, we have the largest data base of English karaoke in the Lower Mainland. Some of the other DJ services come to me for that service. We have recording options, that I mentioned earlier for the karaoke performances. Music videos. We also offer other games and ideas to make your event shine. We’ve even got a little thing for Halloween called Scary Okie . . . We also have an interactive component to our DJ services, they can be as interactive as you like or not at all.
The last event from Singapore that I did, the father of the bride came up to me and said that if I was working in Singapore we would of made a lot of money because of our interactive component to the DJ service. They found it very entertaining and the father of the groom said I was the best service DJ he ever saw. So interactivity can be a lot of fun, but again it’s not for everybody, but it’s there if you want.
